A local man’s morning shower blew out to 16 minutes on Saturday, after his Cox Plate ritual of playing Daryl Braithwaite’s ‘The Horses’ stretched into uncharted waters.
“I put it on repeat, lathered up with the Goat soap and just started belting it out,” he said. “After three I thought, why not four? J-Mac did four in a row, why can’t I?”
The Pakistan Star understands that the man doesn’t even particularly “rate” the song, placing it below One Summer but above As the Days Go By in the Braithwaite pecking order.
“It’s like Christmas carols, they have their place in the calendar and it’s only a very small window.”
Despite the race not being run at Moonee Valley this year, the man indicated that Mt Alexander Rd institution Deluxe Bar would still be getting a visit afterwards.
