Following short-lived stints as a Western Australian form guy and a trial expert, a local punter is continuing his new season ‘rebrand’ as a Hong Kong specialist.

27-year-old Corey Turner spent the Hong Kong season break “doing replays” and Googling the correct pronunciation of ‘Conghua’, in a move that has already manifested in some bold statements in his punting group chat. 

After a pair of ill-fated Happy Valley selections last Wednesday (“the city track is a different beast altogether”), he is gearing up again for the second Sha Tin meeting of the season.

“Boys, I think this could be a genuine Class 5 horse, maybe even Group class,” he said.

To add further gravitas to his Hong Kong racing discussion, Turner has been lighting up WhatsApp by bemoaning Ka Ying Rising’s global rating, and exclusively referring to trainers and jockeys by first-name only.

“He trialled up a treat for Vincent but Zac goes on here, Caspar isn’t messing around.”
