An emotional Dean Davola admits he is one more Darren Flindell impersonation away from being issued divorce papers, after revealing the immense strain his fixation with champion sprinter Chautauqua has placed on his marriage.

“The video of Chautauqua winning his third TJ has 233k views on YouTube and I’m probably responsible for half of those,” Davola told The Pakistan Star.

But Davola’s enthusiasm for The Grey Flash’s exploits is not shared by the rest of his household, forcing the 43-year-old to remove the replay binging from his daily routine.

“I’m not even allowed to watch the last 200m of the Manikato when the kids are in bed,” he said.

“I’ve also been banned from reciting ‘Can he do it? Yes! There’s history!’ when reverse parking.”

Davola said he’d be lying if he didn’t experience moments where temptation almost gets the better of him, and admitted that at their worst, the Chautauqua replays had acted as a gateway to videos of celebrated North American backmarkers, like Zenyatta and Silky Sullivan.

“They just make up so much bloody ground, it’s unbelievable,” he said.

Davola is currently enrolled in the ‘Get Out The Gate & Run!’ program, which promotes physical exercise and digital detox.
