A horse racing syndicator has made the bold call that his most recently acquired filly “could be a three-year-old Classics contender” after observing the daughter of Written Tycoon’s maiden track gallop.

In preparing the first round of advertising for the yearling, Edge Syndications boss Craig Skase had initially elected to deploy his faithful “will be aimed at the 2027 Golden Slipper” line for the email blast to prospective owners.

However, the $260,000 purchase’s first meaningful foray under saddle, in which she was reportedly “just shaded” by her work partner — an unnamed Almanzor filly out of a Fiorente mare who beat her home by approximately nine lengths — prompted a creative rethink. 

Skase told The Pakistan Star that a patient approach would be required “with this girl”, despite being bred purely for speed.

“The trainer was happy enough with her work but she will just need time,” Skase said.

“She had a good blow afterwards. We’re expecting her to make an appearance and be competitive at the back end of her two-year-old year, but we think she’ll really come into her own as a three-year-old over a bit of ground.”

“Her fourth dam was placed in a Caloundra Cup, so if you delve a little deeper there is some good stamina there on the page.”

Prospective buyers have already been informed that the G1 South Australian Oaks is being pencilled in as the filly’s primary target, although Skase is not ruling out a ‘shy at the stumps’ in the G1 ATC Oaks: “they’re only three once”.
