A local man has thrilled his children with another successful round of their favourite road trip pastime, ‘TJ3’, a game in which the objective is to “chase down” a rival vehicle in honour of Chautauqua’s iconic third-straight TJ Smith Stakes victory.

Sensing his young passengers were becoming fractious after two hours in the car, 37-year-old Craig Hoolahan reportedly decided to dust off one of his most effective distraction techniques.

Selecting an upcoming overpass as the finishing post and casting a red Hyundai “several lengths” ahead in the ‘bunny’ role of the Waterhouse-trained sprinter English, Hoolahan told this masthead he then proceeded to “absolutely fucking floor it” in a bid to replicate the trademark late finish of ‘The Grey Flash’.

“It’s like eye spy on cobalt,” said back-seat passenger Matilda, 6.

“When I hear Dad screaming ‘Can he do it, Chautauqua?! Yes! There’s history!’, it really makes the time go by quicker,” she said.

“That red Hyundai really had an unexpected kick… I think they sensed us on their shoulder, but we were able to reel them in just in time.”

The Pakistan Star understands the children also enjoy playing ‘Lonhro in the Oz Cup’ when stuck in heavy traffic.
